Vintage Hesperus Swallowtail Study

From the Field Notes series, this shadow box showcases a Hesperus swallowtail (Papilio hesperus), Weevil beetle (Curculionidae sp.), & Flower chafer beetle (Torynorrhina flammea) on pressed Jasmine (Jasminum polyanthum). This particular piece is incredible because the main specimen is a Hesperus swallowtail butterfly that was collected in 1976 and has the original specimen data information from the piece of paper that was used to store the unpinned insect - something that is quite rare to find these days.

Every arrangement and display from the Field Notes series was sourced, preserved, and arranged with thought and care to capture the essence of exploration and curiosity about the modern world.
